Comes The Dawn

COMES THE DAWN
(Anonymous)

After a while, you learn the subtle difference
Between holding a hand and chaining a soul
And you learn love doesn't mean leaning
And company doesn't mean security
And kisses aren't contracts
And presents don't mean promises
And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head held high & your eyes open
With the grace of a woman- and not the grief of a child.

And you learn to build all your roads on today
Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans
And futures have a way of falling down in midflight
After a while you learn even sunshine...
Burns if you get too much.

So you plant your own garden
And you decorate your own soul
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers
And you learn you really can endure
That you really have worth
And you learn and learn...

With every goodbye,
You learn.

Nice... as always. Loved it :)
How was the trip to home? back to the rut?

Hey junior. Home was drudgery....so what else is new! ;) Yr nose must be fully Pinnochio-esque by now, considering the number of times you've broken yr promise of writing...

That is a very beautiful piece - ya, after a while you learn that even sunshine burns you and with every goodbye you learn.
